Hood Highway

Hood Highway

Looming in the distance is the majestic Mt. Hood, as we traveled through the dense, thick woodland of Mt. Hood State Park, which itself was chock full of the the biggest trees I have ever seen. Douglas firs that dwarfed semi trucks were literally everywhere, coating the hillsides like a fuzzy carpet, and this highway twisted through all of it. One of the things I noticed, being from the deciduous forests of Pennsylvania, is that there were simply NO leafy trees to be seen, anywhere. I'm used to maples and oaks, not these evergreen titans, and it's odd how just a change in the greenery can feel so jarring. What I really wonder, however, is how this road, and all roads in the Mt. Hood area, look during the winter...Probably one of the most beautiful sights to be had in all the world, I would think.
